International Day for Street Children (IDSC) has been celebrated globally since 2012, to recognize the humanity, dignity and defiance of street children in the face of unimaginable hardships. This year, we are also recognizing the work and dedication shown by those working on the streets with children, and call for proper recognition and support to be given to these frontline workers.
This year Ek Ronga Ek Ghuri, Apon Foundation and Street Children Activist’s Network, SCAN Bangladesh are going to organize a Rally and Human Chain on the issue of the rights and protection for the street children. Our network Consortium for Street Children CSC summarized the General Comment into a 4-step plan so Governments around the world can enact their own plans for how they will ensure safety and protection for street-connected children:
1. Commit to Equality
Recognize street-connected children have the same rights as everyone else – and reflect that in the law.
